The autumnal colours in Zermatt are once again spectacular. The lush greens that we had from all that summer rain are starting to give way to russet browns, ochres and deep greens. Leaves on the trees turn a startling orange or yellow.
Blue sky sunny days, wispy cotton wool clouds, a low yellow sun, but there is definitely a chill in the air. Whilst in the town itself we have had our fair share of rain, higher up, the low temperatures mean snow, promising an early start to the 2012-13 winter season and an early end to the Matterhorn climbing season.
The light is completely different, the air is still, I think nature is waiting for the ski season to begin!
