Easter is coming, and already the shops in Zermatt are full of chocolate Easter bunnies, Easter Eggs, Easter chicks, all made out of delicious Swiss chocolate. Elysian Collection, always thinking up new ways to pamper, have added a chocolate bath to the list of little luxuries with which we spoil our guests.
Adding chocolate to your bath brings benefits through its relaxing and scrummy smell, cocoa butter moisturizes the skin. Chocolate also rejuvenates the skin cells.
If you can’t come all the way to Chalet Les Anges this Spring, you can make your own…
1 cup of unscented bubble bath (try to get as pure a bubble bath as possible – the fewer ingredients, the better)
1/3 cup of milk: dairy milk has long been used as a bath enriching agent. Think of Cleopatra.
3 oz. (85g) of dark Swiss chocolate – dark chocolate is best because of its higher antioxidants and purity.
Heat milk, chop the chocolate into small pieces. Add the pieces to the heated milk. Stir well over a low heat until the chocolate is completely melted. Do not let it boil
Allow the mixture to cool down.
Draw your bath water. Mix the chocolate mixture with the bubble bath just prior to adding to the bath.
Pour the chocolate mixture into the bath under the running water
Blend the chocolate solution and the bath water together. Stir your hand around in the bath to mix the water and chocolate mix together. If properly mixed, the whole mixture blends into the bath well and you should feel clean and silky soft after it.
To spice up the bath, you could add a 1/4 teaspoon of either cinnamon or ginger
Of course, if you do this at home, you won’t have our chalet housekeeping team to clean your bath afterwards!
